For over forty years,The Library of Congress (LOC) in Washington, DC has served as the official repository for the NAACP records. The first shipment of records arrived in 1964. The NAACP records now consist of over five million items dating back to 1909.

The NAACP Records are the largest collection ever received by the LOC and annually, the most heavilly used. The NAACP Records serve as the cornerstone of research for the civil rights movement.
