Senior Advertising Sales
Representative
Qualifications
The Crisis Magazine, official publication of the NAACP, is seeking an advertising sales professional to sell national advertising space. A degree in advertising, marketing, business or related field with five years national print advertising sales desired. Candidate must have a proven track record of performance in national print advertising sales- developing new business and building/sustaining strong client relationships. Prefer an executive with strong relationships with key ad agency personnel and the ability to develop creative and effective ad sales packages and promotions to stimulate revenue growth. Knowledge of competing media helpful. Candidate must be a creative, motivated self-starter with integrity, strong work ethic and organizational skills. Reports to Business Manager.
Skills
- Good Communicator: Creative, persuasive, clear and concise verbal and written communication skills are a critical element; interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with executives at the highest management levels; excellent negotiating, analytical, presentation skills
- Experience with and ability to use PowerPoint, Excel, and Word is important; ability to utilize computer to generate sales and demographic data
- Media Research - Executive must have a working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research and the ability to prepare effective formal advertising proposals using this data; familiarity with circulation audits a must
- New media: Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to sell online advertising
Responsibilities
- The advertising sales executive will develop, sell, and maintain a client base, driving advertising revenue. Perform extensive unsolicited cold calling through telephone and personal contact to develop a client list and build relationships at the agency and client level; prepare advertising proposals tailored to advertiser’s needs; prepare accurate advertising contracts adhering to all office policies; develop added-value and merchandising opportunities for advertisers
- Prepare various reports as required: Complete all sales related paperwork including bi-weekly sales reports, traffic, credit applications, etc.
- Assist with production: Coordinate ads for publication; ensure that ads comport to the contractual requests of advertiser and printing specifications; review plotters and ad proofs for color, accuracy and position
- Assist with marketing of The Crisis to include: Advertising, marketing and merchandising opportunities
- Assist with development of advertising component on the Internet
- Assist with development of media kits and marketing tools
- Prepare ad invoices and tear sheets for billing; follow-up on delinquent accounts
Salary: Salary plus commission
Status: Exempt
